I am holding a Bahraini passport, and I am a student living in Malaysia for the past 3 years.

My passport is expiring on April 2012, and I am planning to book tickets to Phuket for January 2012, via AirAsia. I am exempted of getting a visa (no visa needed).

I was wondering if any one of you can help me know if I am able to travel with less than 6months passport validity.

Appreciate your help.

thanks.

PS: would be travelling for 5 days max only from the 16th to the 20th

National Bahrain (BH) /Destination Thailand (TH)

Thailand (TH)

Passport required.

- Nationals of Bahrain can enter with passports and/or

passport replacing documents valid for the period of

intended stay.

With a return ticket you will have no problem.

It is not a problem for Thailand directly but many countries will not accept passport for entry with less than six month validity and a requirement for visa exempt entry into Thailand is proof of documents meeting requirements for next country (so if next country is Bahrain should not be a problem - it not it could be a problem as you might not meet that requirement if checked).

It appears you would not be allowed to return to Malaysia if that were your intent.

Malaysia (MY)

Passport required.

- Passport and/or passport replacing travel documents must be

valid at least six months on date of arrival.

so there is no way for me to travel to Phuket from Malaysia, and return back to Malaysia.... the only way i would be allowed in if i have a return ticket directly from PHuket to Bahrain?

I suspect the airline might only check Thailand for outbound flight so you might get to Phuket but do not believe they would transport you back to Malaysia as you do not meet requirements which will be on there computer screen. And suspect Malaysia may take it seriously. You need a new passport and should be getting one - your visa will still be valid (use both) but passport under six months is almost useless for travel.
