Biometric Passports

Recommended Posts

I just completed my 90 day report here at Rayong and two things were noticeable to me.

First thing was the new printed receipt with the bar-code. This is my first report of this type. When I handed in my usual pre-filled in TM 47 the IO took it and my passport and went directly over to a computer, input some data and a minute later he printed out a document, cut off the bottom section/receipt and promptly stapled it to the inside front cover of my passport.

Second thing is I have read somewhere that it is a big no, no to staple anything to either cover of the passport especially the back cover as that is where the micro chip is installed.

So, any feedback on the bar-coded receipt? Do I still need a TM 47 on the next report? Or will they just scan this bar-code? Also staples in passport covers? I see several holes in the back cover of mine from previous paperwork. Maybe Immigration needs to refine their procedures?
