What Kind Of Visa And Extensions?

Featured Replies

I'll be arriving in Thailand on December 29, 2011. I need to stay until at least April 1 (as my house in USA is rented until then)

This is a total of 94 days. What kind of Visa should I get, and can I get it extended to cover my entire 94 days? Thanks so much for help and information.

I would get a multiple entry tourist visa valid for six months. You will have to leave and re-enter one time at any border crossing. You will get 60 days permission to stay upon entry. Then you can extend it for 30 days at immigration in Thailand for 1900 baht. At the end of, or during, that 30 days you must leave thailand and re-enter and you will get another 60 days. It doesn't cost anything to re-enter Thaland, but you will have to pay to enter Myanmar, Laos, or Cambodia. Malaysia is free. You could leave Thailand twice, but I think that would cost you more than 1900 baht.

A two entry tourist visa is what you want and from most places one exit and no extensions would be best - if exit not practical one extension of 30 days and then 7 days could be obtained from immigration but cost would likely be higher than doing the one border crossing (which you could use for more travel).

You would ask for a 1,2 or 3 entry tourist visa.

Not multiple entry.
