I hold a british passport and reside in thailand on a retirement extension with the money in a thai bank method , I am trying to obtain an australian tourist visa for my better half ,,, 43 years old thai fiance of 4 years ,, so she can accompany me to the wedding of my son in australia in april . Along with the invitation card , i also have a seperate letter of invitation and support from the brides parents , stating that all accommodation , and food , will be provided by them at there home in oz . for the duration of one months stay, which is the requested visa time of stay . Question ,,, do they have to supply means of adequate funds ? if yes ,, should i ask them to remove the food part , would that make a difference ?....... Also ,,, about 15 years years ago , my fiance underwent an operation to remove a brain tum er , this has left her dependend on medication ,, taken as prescribed , she leads a normal [ please do not quote me , she's thai :whistling:,,,] life,,, without medication she would be prone to epeliptic fits ,, Question,,, anyone have any similar experience of this with regards applying for an oz, visa , how serious do immigration view this ?,, can it be covered by a medical plus insurance ??.. thanks in advance to all ,,,,,, i take this opportunity to say thank you for all prievious snippets of information gleamed from this forum over the years,, and the intertainment :jap::jap:,,,

Your partner has to show she has enough funds or access to funds for the trip, the family dont have to show anything.

There is no medical requirement for a tourist visa, however a letter from her doctor regards medication may be useful when entering Oz.

Medical insurance is not mandatory, if you feel it is needed then go for it.

If you tick the box then a letter from the doc outlining the nature and degree of illness maybe handy to put in the application.

The Immi and Government are only concerned about her needing emergemcy treatment in Oz and the costs coming out of the public purse.
