Air Asia...Again

Featured Replies

Does anyone know just what this "Awesome" sale today the 8th is all about.

Links off their site don't indicate what it is?

Okay.......Sale came up one hour later than originally advertised, surprised, no!

Some specials between 1 July and 27 October next year!

your post is dated the 7th not the 8th

Thankyou for your kind observation.....However, my post was indeed drafted and posted on December 8th in the early hours of the morning in this part of the globe.

The email I received on the December 7th from AA stated that this particular "Awesome Sale" would commence at 03:00 Australian time, 3:00AM on the 24 hour clock in Australia, December 8th.

The info and links to the sale, did not commence until 4:00AM, as correctly stated in my above post!

Thanks Craig,

Yes the links were up and running fine, 1 hour after their advertised promotion was scheduled to begin.

Great when you set an alarm and get up in the early hours of the morning, then wait around for an hour for what was supposed to happen earlier.

There is a 1 hour time change for the east coast of Australia during summer which makes the time difference........................ Oh yea. :sorry:

Fly between July and October next year but have to book between the 8-11th of December.

How right you are, but I was in the zone for the 3:00AM (AEDST)

However, not worth going on about it, I was merely correcting the post re I was looking at the wrong date!

:whistling:

There was a report on the BBC World Service business news out of Singapore last week which specifically mentioned Air Asia as well as other "budget" air fare airlines.

It seems that the Malysian government wants to raise the landing and airport charges for airports in Malaysia, especially for those budget air fare carriers.

Air Asia was specifically mentioned in that report as opposing those extra charges and claiming it was simply a disguised way for the Malaysian government to subsidise Malaysian Airlines, the country"s flag carrier airline, by putting Air Asia at a competative disadvantage by forcing Air Asia to absorb that extra cost...and therefore have to raise it's fares.

Air Asia was complaing that the extra government taxes and landing fees might add as much as 20% to their fares on flights landing in or transiting through Malaysia.

The reason this MAY be relevant to that "sale" (the original topic) is that it MAY be that Air Asia needs a quick infusion of cash...by selling advance flights for booking NOW...and payment on booking of course.

That would give them the quick cash needed to cover any new fees and taxes levied by the Malaysian government.

But hey, I'm just a suspicious and cantankarous old man, so maybe I'm wrong...amd what do I know anyhow?

But I do follow the dictum that:

If it waddles like a Duck, quacks like a Duck, and looks like a Duck then....

Maybe it's a Duck!
