kurtmartens
I don't think there have been any changes since I received my visa in November. Get there early, go across the street where the "lady" will fill out your paperwork for you and make any photocopies you might need (for a fee of course). Once the Consulate opens, just drop off paperwork and application at the window, pay 5,000 Baht and come back next day. (Be sure to save the little "scrap" of paper they give you with your number for pickup!) The only issue to remember is they asked us (I brought my wife with) to show them the original wedding certificate. I also brought the bankbook showing 200,000+ Baht. They don't seem interested, but they did tell my wife this was necessary when she phoned before we went to Laos. (But, it doesn't really seem to be interested...better safe than sorry?!) Easy peasy. And don't cheap out...stay at the Savaan Casino & Hotel. They will take you over to the Consulate in the morning (didn't charge us). Then we just took a tuk tuk (skylab) back to the hotel. (Savaan Hotel & Casino...you should be giving me a finders fee...since I keep pushing your hotel! Laugh!)

frenchfarangjomtien
Thanks for info, it seems so easy there. And how is the city, I guess that there is not as much western food as in Vientiane ? Anything else to do but play at Casino ? And the crossing is as easy as Friendship bridge 1 ? (take ca bus to cross)
richardshane
When staying at the Savan Casino and Hotel make sure you sign up for the membership card prior to paying for your room as this will give you a Deluxe room and breakfast for 1,000 baht a night regular 2,000 baht. The buffet breakfast is full of people mostly Issan farmer types who get a free bus to the casino including the buffet so we passed on that as it didn't look too appetizing the room was fine though. We stayed two nights as we arrived at 11:20 and the consulate closes for applications at 11, got my non O multi entry visa without any problems and never bothered looking at my bank book..
