KARACHI, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- A Pakistani security vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb on Friday, killing three members of the country's paramilitary forces, officials said on Saturday. Several others were injured.

The attack happened near Safoora Chowrangi in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area in the southern port city of Karachi in Sindh Province when the improvised explosive device (IED) struck the vehicle carrying the forces.

Police officials said the bomb had an estimated 8 to 17 kilograms (17.6 to 22 pounds) of explosives, destroying the vehicle. The strong explosion left three Pakistani Rangers killed while four others were injured.

Emergency teams took the four injured Rangers to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Malir for medical treatment. Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik said an investigation into the attack was already underway.
