Airport Taxi'S Nye

Featured Replies

I have been warned about flying to or from Thailand on december 31st due to the greedy, opportunistic, and selfish nature of taxi drivers keen to make a profit at the expense of the exhausted traveler, not to mention the reputation of their country and the few Thais who do have any integrity. Exactly how bad can I expect the fare to be? Double? Quadruple?

Airport security rents out the airport to scammers.

Just look at the report in the Bangkok Post a year ago.

14,500 scammers were "fined' in the first half of 2010.

The Bangkok Post also reported that 3 different mafias have divided up the airport turf.

I guess I could always take the airport link, that will shorten the journey considerably if I only have to take a taxi from BTS Ekkamai.

Is it still likely to be a nightmare?

Also, has anybody ever tried to assault one of these rogue taxi drivers? I think it would be in Thailand's best interests if it were made legal to attack, injure or execute one.

Knock yourself out....go for it....set a precedent....one would suspect the only person being executed would be you...literally

At least 5 or 6 times normal price. Probably best you just stay home

If that`s how you feel about Thailand and the Thai people, then why are you bothering to visit here?

I mean, you are already complaining and you`re not even here yet.

Just go up one floor (or is it two ?) and get a taxi which is dropping someone else off. There is no surcharge as there would normally be, and they're very happy to immediately get another passenger.

This has started off bad, and can only get worse. If the OP wishes, he can open a new post without insults to the Thai people. Scammers inhabit pretty much every airport in the world.
