Hello to one and all.........

Well i have downloaded the french schengen visa application, which also comes with a list of required documents i need to bring along for the application. I Have created an account with (TLS contact) and will be making an appointment at the relevant centre in London sometime next week i hope?

I have noted that on the application form, they ask what relation the applicant is to the EU sponsor, and do not give an option for BF or GF (civilian partnership). Does this mean they are not happy with this relationship on a Schengen visa application?

Also if anyone has any helpful tips before we embark on this application we would be very grateful. Kind regards.

Boy or girlfriend is not classed as a family member under the Schengen rules. Unmarried partners are, but different states have different definitions of this.

But; from your previous posts it appears that she is in the UK as a visitor. If so, save yourself a trip. Schengen visas have to be applied for in the applicant's country of residence. If she is in the UK as a visitor any application she makes in the UK for a Schengen visa will be refused.

Oh dear..............

Well that was certainly a helpful tip.

Is there any way that we would be able to obtain entry into France whilst she is currently in the UK?

Kind regards

Could someone possibly apply for the schengen visa on her behalf in THAI?

No, they will need her passport to put the visa in!

Also, whilst I was enquiring about doing the same thing for my wife (we were going to apply to the Germans, not the French) they said that she would have to attend the German embassy in Bangkok in person.

Looks like your trip to France will have to wait until the next visit :(

I am fairly sure that, like a UK visa, the country she applies to will want to take her biometrics. So she wouldn't just have to send her passport, she'd have to cut off and send her hand, too!:o

The relevant website does state submission & collection of documents may be made by a third party & appearing in person is not mandatory .

A requirement is a return ticket from Thailand . So obviously your GF is expected to be living in Thailand on application .Her Visa history

on application & UK Visit Visa stamp will indicate this not to be the case.

To qualify for Schengen from within Uk the applicant must have Leave To Remain Visa .Visit/Fiance Visa does not qualify.

I agree with Eff1n2rett , put her in the boot .Not many illegals fleeing the Uk for France & security checks non existant & on the way back she could

sit in the front seat with you

But can visas be issued to parts of people? I thought they could only be issued to complete individuals? There may well be someone who thinks that their hand's human rights are being violated if that's the case!

It might raise a few eyebrows in the post office as well! ;)

I assume you mean can she apply in the UK.

If so, the answer is yes; she is classed as a UK resident so can apply in the UK.

Remember that as she is the spouse of an EU citizen most of the questions on the form wont apply to her and the visa will be free.

Anyone know the turnaround time to get the visa and if you need confirmed flight/train tickets to show?

Plus, do you usually get 6 months multi-trip?

I got my friendly travel agent to send confirmation via email of the flights but they were not booked, seats held in our names as well. Also the hotels I used booking.com and have them on free cancellation.

The turnaround at the Swiss Embassy in Bangkok is one week, maybe less, if you go on Thursday they tell you to return the following Thursday to collect your passport and the decision.

One of the questions on the forms asks you if you want "single", "double" or "multi" entry.

These are not required if the applicant is the spouse of an EU citizen and is travelling with or to join their spouse.
