Christmas begins at Central Festival Pattaya Beach

PATTAYA: -- Christmas has arrived at the Central Festival Pattaya Beach. On Tuesday Night their Christmas lights were officially switched on to signify the start of a hopefully busy period at Pattaya’s flagship shopping mall. The highlight of the night was the lighting-up of their 25 meter high Christmas tree which was presided over by Khun Komsan, the new Governor of Chonburi Province who was joined by the Chief of Banglamung District and Deputy Mayor of Pattaya. The Central Gift Fesitval runs until 5th January and promises discounts throughout the Mall to celebrate the festive season.

It was fairly quiet on Tuesday and Wednesday. I spent about 4 hours each day/evening

shopping there. I have no idea how many of the speciality shops on various levels make enough to keep their doors open. Most shop assistants were looking quite bored.

For anyone looking for a gift wrapping service, Central department store has free wrapping for anything bought in the store. They have a wrapping counter on several levels. I came across 2 counters.

If you want other things wrapped which were purchased outside the department store you can buy the paper, boxes, ribbons etc at B2S and they will wrap free for you.

Merry Christmas!

There have been many people there however I have not noticed many people shopping , have often wondered how the small outlets manage to survive.

Yes, there are plenty of people there, but most of them are eating in the food court and assorted restaurants upstairs. Most of the small outlets are desserted.

If they can't get crowds in this time of year, it must be tough going for the rest of it.
