Hi,

The wife and I are looking to go back to the UK and are looking into the settlement visa process. Part of the process involves getting a TB test, submitting biometric data (finger prints etc) and doing an English test.

As we are both based in Chiang Mai, we were wondering if any of this could be taken care of here, rather than Bangkok.

Cheers,

MP

Unfortunately not, the TB test x-ray is usually done at Bumrungrad and the approval certificate issued at the Institute of Migration (or similar) on Silom, there's no options with that part - biometrics have to be collected by VFS, the UK Embassy's handler for visa based data and that means BKK also, no choices there either I'm afraid. From experience you can manage all of the above with a two night stay in BKK and one very busy and carefully planned day, if that helps.

Thanks Chiang Mai. Have you applied for a settlement visa recently? Would it be ok to Pm you a few questions? You mentioned the TB test and the biometrics but any idea about the English test? And can the biometrics be submitted when we apply for the visa?

Thanks again for your help.

If you do a search there's a load of information already out there but feel free to PM if you wish.

Yes, we applied and were granted a Settlement Visa last year but we decided not to use it!

Biometrics are taken by VFS when you submit the visa application.

You'll need to check the forum for the latest position on the English tests, when we applied the tests had just been introduced and we had no other choice than to take the test in Bangkok, now I understand there's other places where the test can be taken but am unsure if CM is on the list, suspect it is. The English test results are good for two years and the TB test for six months.
