Air Asia - Phuket-Bkk-Chiang Rai

Featured Replies

Scenario:

Two seperate tickets issued, Phuket - Bangkok and Bangkok - Chiang Rai same day travel.

When the bags are dropped off at check in in Phuket will AA allow me to check them in all the way to Chiang Rai ? will they have to be collected in BKK and re-checked ? I know check in will be linked to the first flight sector only but wondering if they would be kind and issue a manual bag tag.

Yes, your bags will need to be collected in Bangkok and re-checked for the second flight.

As ovenman says, reclaim at BKK and check in again. Make sure to use the AirAsia kiosk checkin then drop off your bag at the counter; in Phuket that counter is not very efficient but far better than not using kiosk.

And if your Phuket flight is delayed and you don't have time to check them in on the flight you are travelling on to Chiang Rai ... be sure to remove any/all items of value and transfer them to your hand luggage & then lock the case/s. We went Phuket-BKK-CNX a while back and by the time the bags made it to CNX on a flight the following day they weighed a lot less than they did when we left Phuket. The #$%#^ even took a child's clothing & teddy bear!
