What if my fiancee gets a US Tourist Visa and we go to America get married and then return to Thailand all with in 1-3 months.

I am just wondering if this is ok or not?

Not positive, but I think if she gets married while on a tourist visa, you can petition a change in status and she won't have to leave. That's why the US makes it so hard to get a tourist visa. What is your goal?

so basically, as long as you dont petition the change of status and still leave the country when your suppose to, its perfectly fine?

We have no intention to get married in America or even anytime this year actually.

I am just curious about this because we are engaged already and the next step is to get married.

I would assume the first thing they will think about during the Tourist Visa Interview is "Will they get married in America or not"?

Thanks for your reply

well, if you think about it, it SHOULD NOT have any influence on YOUR application. You two will eventially get married anyways and here or there is doesn't matter, she will be your wife at the end.

But like the #2 post says it's hard to get a visa, I think that is more likely for the single girls as no doubt many have the goal to sneak to US to find someone and get married.

Fine, not a problem, exactly what my now wife & I did back in 1999. Only difference is that she already had a 10-year tourist visa. Got married in the U.S., back to Thailand, still married.

Note, tho, when that 10-year visa expired she applied for another one. This time it was slightly more chancy as the presumption could be that she was going to the U.S. and apply for Adjustment of Status to that of a PRA, a Green Card holder. However, as with her previous three tourist visas as a GF, the interviewing ConOff thumbed through my passport, noted my string of "retirement" extensions, and approved the visa. The presumption now was that since I was returning to Thailand, she would also come back. Not even a glance at her home ownership papers, car, bank account, etc, just my passport.
