The reason I dislike going to Sripat is because it takes MUCH longer to see a doctor on every visit (not just the first one) and (in my experience) the prices are not much less than Ram. I think it is a good hospital, but the waits really put me off.

If one wants to save a little money, I have heard good things about the hospital across from the Holiday Inn and from what I am told the service is pretty fast.

Rajavej is OK and the benefit is that a few seconds after you walk in Saskia or Natasha, who are American & Philippino, both English fluent, are standing next to you and will be around to support you if you want.

Neither was there when i was poorly ups2.gif, i had to make do with the flipping wife 23.gif

To be fair one did turn up the next day

I went there about 3 times a week for about 3 months when I had a neck injury and needed the PT department. Never saw them or heard of them???

I'm currently seeing Khun Took in PT and I seem to always bump into Saskia.

You knew where you were going, but it could be if you are new, don't know where you're going etc, that they are buzzed from the front desk.

They are located at the very far end (left) as you walk in and you can ask for them.

Ram misdiagnosed a relatives cancerous tumor saying it receded, when it actually got larger. The dialysis machine also infected him with some type of vegetative growth.

Ive never had the feeling Ram was a very clean hospital.

So that's why you like to go to Rajavej, rascal! Actually, I refered a friend there based on the recommendation you gave and he was very impressed with Kuhn Took, apparently she treated my friend even though the Osteo. said that physio wouldn't work and he wouldn't refer my friend as a result, the osteo turned out to be wrong, seems Kuhn Took has a large set of balls for a female!

Went to RAM today, was a little more beat up than I expected, but the service was excellent and the price was fair. Will live to die another day.

Well, I guess the most important thing is: the OP is OK.

I've been very ill with pneumonia 6 or 7 times in my live, and I can say it is no fun at all.

Glad you are on the road to recovery, poodmaidai.

Ah..O.K. could be. I always walked in and turned right up the stairs to the PT Dept. Never even looked to see what was on the left side.

I don't know Khun Took but I'm quite sure Khun Diow does not have a set of balls! She is very feminine and a very gifted therapist.

Here's another (limited) vote for Rajavev, across from Holiday Inn. Natasha (RN-nurse) and Saskia (patient care administrator) --both natve English speakers and extremely helpful, docs all fluent and they have done me right every time, and taken all the time with me I needed. But that's all on day shift.

Having said that, I would not go back for inpatient treatment. The ward nurses are terrible in skills. I think that they are trained to be unquestioning geishas to doctors, while Natasha was trained in the Phillipines, where there is a more Western team member approach to nursing.

They have an excellent all inclusive physical exam package I get every May, includes: EKG, sonogram, chest X ray and full blood panels for about 4000 baht. I would recommend anyone considering changing primary care providers to have a physical and see how you feel treated there so yoou don't have to subsequently make this decision in the middle of a health crisis

That's a great recommendation, I'm really happy whjen people find solutions that work for them and having considered all the options, make a concious decision to go one way or the other. What I think is not a good idea when it comes to health care is to just go blindly to the biggest name private hopsital in the area, where ever that might be, because that's relying on the effectivness of marketing campaigns rather than an objective assessment of the quality and costs involved. Also, when people give word of mouth recommendations it's worth asking whether they've tried the alternatives so that they actually have something to compare against.
