Visa Conversion - Question

Featured Replies

Does anybody know if....

1. A tourist visa can be 'upgraded' to a business visa, at an immigration office here within the Kingdom, should a person accept a job offer from a reputable employer and all the paperwork that goes with it ?

2. The tourist visa ( triple entry ) can run concurrently with the business visa, in case the job doesn't meet expectations and the person decides to leave ?

3. If the answer to question 2 is no, can the person remain in the Kingdom for the duration of the business visa, or

4. Re-activate the tourist visa that they had already paid for rather than have to start all over again ?

Many thanks for answers on this one - the Thai immigration website does not cover this of scenario.

1. Visas can never be changed - if extension of stay was available a new entry might be obtained (at new cost) from immigration. But for visa only no.

2. Only one visa but old is not always canceled. But you can always stay to the end of a business visa (90 day entry) in any case. Only if you were on an extension of stay would it end the day employment ends.

3. Yes as above - a visa does not end - an extension would.

4. A new tourist visa entry would require a new entry if visa in passport has unused entries and not marked used.
