Murder suspect says victim stole drugs; sister says killed for refusing loans

The Nation on Sunday

The suspect in the killing of jewellery trader Hamad Muhammed, 30, whose body was found in a Mercedes-Benz sports car in Bangkok's Yan Nawa district on December 22, yesterday confessed to shooting the victim, claiming Hamad had stolen a quantity of the drug crystal meth from him, police said.

Police will seek arrest warrants on Sunday for two accomplices of 27-year-old suspect Thanasit Srisompan; one who allegedly provided the gun and another believed to have driven the motorcycle from which Thanasit is accused of shooting the victim.

Thanasit, who was arrested in possession of a Louis Vuitton bag, Bt78,000 cash, a 3-baht-weight gold necklace, a Rolex Yacht-master wristwatch and 29 bullets - reportedly confessed that he and the victim knew each other and took drugs together. He said the victim stole 40 grams of crystal meth that Thanasit wanted to sell. This and previous disputes led him to kill the man and steal his valuables, he said.

Police yesterday had Thanasit re-enact the crime at the site on Rama III Road where he allegedly left the body and threw the pistol and bullets under a roadside bush. Police found some bullets at the scene but have not found a weapon.

The victim's sister, Sofia, 24, said she did not believe that her brother took or dealt drugs. She believed the suspect killed her brother because he had stopped lending money to Thanasit, who she said owed Hamad hundreds of thousands of baht.

"He said the victim stole 40 grams of crystal meth that Thanasit wanted to sell. This and previous disputes led him to kill the man.........."

Thanasit's defence could do with a little polishing, perhaps even a lawyer.

Drug addled twit most likely.

And poor Hamad was foolish to be around this type.

Still didn't deserve to die for being rich and stupid.

RIP and yes prosecute this idiot fully.

I go with the sister story,is more the truth
