My husband and I are looking to buy a condo in Chiang Mai as welove the are so much and the golf is much cheaper than Samui.

We're looking at about 1 - 1.5 mill baht, close to all amenities (but not necessarily right in the middle of town). Close to a golf course is a must and view of Ping River is desirable.

Can anyone help?

I can know a brand new Condo(ready April-May that is out of town) 15 minutes you can choose from a Ping view or a Mountain view, my freind has bought one there. Prices are within your range.

... a lot of things to watch out for with brand new, not quite ready construction work --- such as e.g. condos --- though. Will it ever get finished? ... If it does, how will the basic installations function? ... Will, there be enough money for maintaining the common areas/facilities? ... Does the project have all the proper legalities in order? ... Etc..

Don't ever sign any paper or make any downpayments on any "project" that hasn't proved its substance in real world.
