Huge Packet Loss And Latency On Internet True Move Cable 10Mb

Hello,

I am very new to Thailand and to this forum, and just got a new wired internet conection with cable via True Move Service 10MB.

I a m working in IT, and I experience huge packet loss (by huge I mean no less than 55% and often going to 90%) on pingtest.net towards hong kong servers and europe as well.

The speed seem calibrated, i get 10MB download speed, once the test is willing to start which take some time.

As a result i get a very sluggish internet connection and Latency of course.

Below is a traceroute output i did (sometimes it's even worse!!), with huge latencies before leaving thailand actually. Tested also with other tools seems that problems occurs around static.asianet.co.th and trueintergateway.com (with a lot of hops also on these servers).

At this point of network infrastructure quality if this is in cause, it makes nearly impossible for any serious IT worker to do one job without loosing huge amounts of time.

I precise i ll make this tests directly ethernet wired to the cable modem (Thomson TCW750-4) to avoid any wifi or gateway problems.

Will call True Move on Monday, maybe they will perform a check on modem, or line, but i am not sure the problem is located in my "installation".

My questions are very simple. Are you experiencing same problems with same or other ISP ? Temporary / Permanent ? Could this be related to modem setup or does True Move network is really bad and better to switch to another company (if even this is possible to bereak contract :-) ?

Thanks for your insights.

Any particular time of day?

In my experience connections from here to Europe are pretty poor.

What is the IP of your MAC?

If this is the first hop (your router) then there might be a duplex mismatch between the MAC and the router.

1 10.24.0.1 (10.24.0.1) 7.979 ms 8.786 ms 7.863 ms This should be next to nothing.

What speed and duplex settings are you using. Can you log into the router and check settings?

I'm on the True cable 20Mb plan and when I issue a "tracert www.gandi.net" command my trace result is short and sweet as follow:

tracert www.gandi.net

Tracing route to www.gandi.net [217.70.184.1]

over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 253 ms 249 ms 248 ms website.vip.gandi.net [217.70.184.1]

Trace complete.

What would be the format of the tracert command to get the detailed result like the OP is getting?

Are you using a vpn?

Nothing special is required.. it would seem you are very close to 217.70.184.1
