I know it's a small thing but maybe I might get some hints in getting my wife some good quality sunglasses for our upcoming vacation. OK, it was over 6 years ago when I was used to buying man's sunglasses for $3 to $8. Last week, we went to Airport Plaza and the cheapest sunglasses my wife was interested in were at least 1500B. Most were a lot more. She definitely doesn't want the 99B types. I am looking for glasses for 300B to 600B that have reliable UV lens and some style. We saw some cheap fake brand name ones at the night bazaar. I would prefer not to spend over 1000B for glasses that might be easily lost or damaged.

Thanks

1500-2000 baht is prett much the price for quality glasses. Also at the optician shops like Top Charoen.

The cheapo 199 baht ones are really junk, as is anything at the Night Bazar.

Possibly the 800-900 baht ones they have at Big C (outside the store itself but around the premises) would fit the bill. Those are advertises as UV-blabla blocking glasses.

But best to pick a Top Charoen shop you like and get something sensible. I like the one at 89 Plaza.

Why don't you let your wife go shopping by herself? You can sit in the nearest bar and have a beer or two until she returns. smile.png

Sigh. Yes. Not sure if his wife is anything like mine, but she considers 'Shopping at Robinson' to be quality family time together. sad.png

I hate shopping for anything that can't be purchased at either Makro or Global House: Go in, Get your shit, Pay, Go drink beer.

I enjoy an occasional "good" beer, glass of wine etc. but going to bars is not my cup of "tea".

My wife is Chinese and she does like very good quality (expensive) fine things so I need to be with her to lead her to the 50% to 70% vendor stalls. wink.png Actually I enjoy walking around the malls. I occasionally did it as a pastime in America.

I don't mind buy good sunglasses but they can be easily lost. In fact, she just met a Korean woman who came back from a beach holiday and lost her very expensive sunglasses. But if 1500B+ glasses are the only good quality ones available, I guess I'll have to settle up.

Coincidentally, I'm in a bar right now as I type this, having tea. Herbal tea, even.

Wait... You don't go to bars but still manage to lose sunglasses?? ;)

Try black nail varnish, surprisingly effective.

Never I sir. It was the Korean woman she met.

I actual lied a bit about the cost of glasses I was used to buy. The last decent (aviator style) sunglasses I bought was about 8 or 9 years ago at a 99cent shop. I still have them.
