EXS
Hi, My mother-in-law wants to transfer some farm land into my wife’s name. We are both resident in the UK. I called the RTE in London to check the procedure, and unsurprisingly this does not seem to be a simple process. They advised I need to complete the letter of confirmation relinquishing all claims to the land. This should be certified by a solicitor, and then sent to the FCO to be certified. I then send the documents to the embassy for approval. Have I missed anything? We wonder if there is any easier route? Also is there any tax for transfers between family? Thanks in advance Edited January 19, 2012 by EXS
ballbreaker
Both of you take trip to Thailand and go with mother to land office and do the transfer. All necessary paper work will be done at land office. Yes taxes are due but its lower rate on transfer between family member I think.

EXS
Many thanks for replies. A trip to the land office sounds much simpler and cheaper than involving a solicitor and FCO.
