Border Run From Samui: Malaysia Or Myanmar?

I recently posted about a border run to Myanmar from samui and many people are suggesting Malaysia instead. Which is cheaper?/faster? And does anyone have any specific bus/minibus companies in mind. Thank you

I did the Malaysia trip many years ago. Bus left Nathon at 0730 to Hat Yai, arrived around 1430. Took taxi to Kings Hotel, checked-in. Hired Taxi to Sadao border crossing, about 60 k. Taxi took me to border, stamped out of Thailand, same taxi to maylasia border (long walk) stamped in/out Malaysia - free- taxi to duty free loaded up on whatever then taxi to Thai border stamped in and then back to Kings Hotel. Bus left back to Samui at 0800 next morning arrived about 1500. Don't have any idea of today's cost. Took the van service once, but it was a disaster, dumped me in Suratthani on the way back.
