If you have a visa with an extension of stay and a date when it expires , is there a period of time that you can leave after that date? I heard there was a 7 days period in which you have to leave Thailand or apply for a new visa, or can you apply for another Tourist visa for 30 days while in Thailand?

No. But stays or normal extensions can normally be extended 7 days if you apply for and pay for an extension of stay (which is not approved but provides 7 days to pack out). This may require proof of exit flight.

So this thread is assuming that for whatever reason, the OP can't simply apply for and receive a new extension of stay from Thai Immigration, either before his current one expires or during the week additional period were he to apply for it and have it granted?

Also, while you can't apply for a tourist visa inside Thailand, any international RT air trip out of and back to Thailand -- in the absence of a visa or re-entry permit on an extension -- would normally receive the automatic 30 days entry stamp. And that would give the OP more time to sort out his affairs.

Since the OP did not indicate what type of visa he has and for what resons the extension of stay was granted, it is very difficult to explain any other options orher than the 7 day extension.

What type of visa does he have? Tourist or Non-O?

If he has a tourist, and is on his 30 day extension, is he married to a Thai or have a Thai family?

If he is on a Non-O, is it a 1 year extension due to marriage, retirement or employment.

If he wants specific options, then he has to provide specific details of his current situation
