Going To Australia

Featured Replies

Hi All

read with interest the cost of a visa to retire in Australia.

Over the years I've had heaps of people asking me to get them into Aust. The last one give me a story of wanting to import kangaroos into Thailand supposedly to sell as butcher meat. He figured that would encourage the Aussie government to grant him a visa. After that he would earn lots of money and then come back to Thailand and buy a business same as his uncles have.

couple of years back I spent some time in India, if you been there you would notice there is a lot of people there, at least 100,000,000 wanting to get into Aust. Then there is Pakistan and all those Arab countries. We could probably get a few 100 million from China.

Back in the 60's and 70's I was involved in a political party and we got some info from the governments water conservation mob who stated that Australia was unable to sustain more than 30,000,000 population. It might help if we got rid of 100 million cattle and sheep.

don't get me wrong I'm not in favour of the policies of the present government I have a verry strong dislike for conservatives.

The world has become a very unsafe place and here we are spending billions on space travel. I've just been on to the NASA web site and I'm totally fascinated by the flight to Mars, but I can't help thinking we ought to be putting all this energy into the planet Earth FIRST. A thought came to mind, when they get people to the moon and Mars are they going to take their gun policies with them ???

Welcome back Joe, haven't seen you for a while. Good points. I think the amount of money involved in space travel is obscene but the adventure fascinates me.

IT

Just saw the latest news on the costing of a manned mission to Mars...USD$400,000,000,000.00...No typos there folks.

It's only money....but wow. It is more of a case for charity to begin at home IMHO

Strawberry, I read with interest your post about the present Aussie government and some of their policies,I too dislike them(being ex Ansett and all!), BUT, I do think they are getting one thing right, imigration. We sure as ###### dont want what is happening in the UK.I currently live and work in the middle east, and have had numerous locals say to me they would love to move to Aus, because they can claim to be politicaly persicuted, and scam the system, just like their brother, uncle etc etc does!Personally, I'd rather have the cattle and sheep, even, dare I say it, New Zealanders!

And as you say, the Mars thing is interesting, but like most people think that the amount of money is way over the top, that sort of money could be spent on research into things like the bird flu, SARS, and the list is endless........ :o
