Where To Get Medical Certificate For Renewal Of Driving Licenses

Featured Replies

i am still recovering from a motorcycle accident and am still using a walking stick and limping...i am riding my scooter at present with no problems and feel i could safely drive a car but am worried i

might have a problem getting the covering letter so would like any suggestions as to where might be the best place to go

my one year license expired last year and the one year renewal time period is up in a few weeks so i need to move quickly to secure a new 5 year one

Visit the Chiang Mai Klaimor Hospital in Hang Dong, next to the Tesco Lotus.

They never ask any questions in there. As long as you pay the 100 baht fee, it wouldn’t matter if you had 2 glass eyes, a wooden leg, no arms and were wheeled in, in an iron lung. Even if the worse came to worse and they failed you, you could always just tear up the certificate and go somewhere else. The data does not go anywhere else and stays with that particular hospital. But they wont fail you, trust me on that one.

Avoid the Ram hospital, because they want to know the ins and outs of a ducks behind in there.

I got my last Med Cert there for my DL and no problem...about 10 minutes...in and out

They only charged me 60 bt but that was of course ...5 years ago...Need to get a new one next month...inflation..eh

Another vote for Klaimor - it's fast, cheap & on the way to the Land Transport Office (assuming you're comimg from town).

I got one there one time too. They asked 2 or 3 questions, took a BP reading and that was it. In and out in 10 minutes.

The chief medical-requirement is being able to pay the bill, I've always found.

For those of you after a more thorough check, Kawila Barracks hospital took me through the lot, blood pressure, heart beat, mirror in the mouth, questions about past illnesses, colour blindness test with the numbers in the dots all included. 40B. Super value. drunk.gif

Can't your doctor do it?

The deceased have been known to get driving licences with a medical from Klaimor.wink.png

I've gone here too. What a deal. Here's a map: http://www.wikimapia.org/#lat=18.8052914&lon=98.986339&z=19&l=0&m=b

Thought that was the Rajapat Clap Clinic?

I use Siam Raj (Superhighway/Kuangsingh - same building as Chiang Mai Dental Hospital) for that kind of stuff. Taken several flotsam there with various injuries, no questions asked. thumbsup.gif

At the risk of asking the obvious, where is Kawila Barracks hospital? Inside Kawila Barracks I suppose? Is it possible to go inside even as non-Thai, non-military, also for actual ailments?

Yes, inside the barracks. Enter from the entrance at the level crossing junction just south of the Railway Station. If on motorbike, wear a helmet. You'll be asked where you're going by guards, hospital, its the big building straight on and to the right.

Wouldn't recommend it for anything serious but for a sick note for the boss its fine. Stitches removed and a thorough clean cost 120B, so not one for the cheapest of Charlies.

Like naboo said "Wouldn't recommend it for anything serious but for a sick note for the boss its fine." A couple of years ago I accompanied a friend there because it was the place designated in her Mother's house book under the government plan. She had a serious GI problem and the military Doctor prescribed a very powerful anti-depressant instead of treating her GI problem! When she complained, the Doctor shouted at her! I was shocked to see that they don't have alcohol in the budget to sterilize instruments there. Instead they hold the instrument above a Bunsen burner and then wipe it down with a cloth! Like the dark ages. When we left, the MP's at the guard shack had apparently given my friend's drivers license to someone else by mistake. She never saw it again. Was not a great experience there.

Checking that place off the list.
