Kennel Cough-Tracheobronchitis (found in doggies)

cause - virus ,bacteria (i wont talk about species ..it will be hard as reference then)

sign

- dry cough (sometime see serious discharge ...many client complain , its vomit -- actaully not)

- fever (or not)

fact

- happend when season change (its going to be winter in LOS)

- contagious

how to deal with ??

1 clean the air -protecting pet from smoke

2 warm - put your dog with your old t-shirt .... (especially in night time)

3 put moise in the air ..

- if your dog stay with you in air condition room , put a bowl of water inside

- put the dog in the shower room after u finish shower or bath .. coz warm and damp (sound funny ..but believe me, it works)

humidity will sooth dog's throat and airways

4 cough medicine - as dextromethorphan

5 antibiotic ( preven 2nd infection due to pneumonia)

6 exercise - when doggy is coughing or congest ..slow and gently walk can help

7 keep doggie alone - obviously its contagious disease .. i bet you dont want other doggie contact it ..Quarantine time!!

bordetello is its 'real' name: outdoor only dogs seem to not get it so much since its like having a cold/

close cramped quarters create the perfect invironment for this... also, young or old dogs, or stressed out dogs...

bambi: warm chicken soup w/o the food, just the liquid, is soothing and helps alleviate the bronchiospasm:

note: puppies can get very ill or have breathing problems with this so the treatment may be different....
