I don't know if people are aware of this service, but it is extremely handy, and I didn't know about it until last week. I needed to convert my visa exempt status, to a Non Imm O visa. Jomtien said they could not do it, and I had to go to Bangkok. (I have made a few posts regarding different aspects of this).

I went to the new government centre in Bangkok, and they asked on what basis did I wish to apply for a Non Imm O visa. I said "marriage". They said, ok, where is your Khor Ror 22 (What? I asked myself) They said I had to go to the local Amphur to obtain this. In the meantime, I said, never mind, retirement will be fine, and I had proof of funds, and had three previous 'retirement' visa's, so that was ok. Visa approved in 2 weeks, collected today.

When I went to Amphur Banglamung, they said I had to go back to The Ministry of Foreign Affairs to have my Australian marriage certificate "legalised". Losing interest and patience fast, didn't want to have to go back to Bangkok for a meaningless "Legalisation". Anyway, they told me that they provide a service (with receipt) that included a translation of the certificate, authentication at the Australian Embassy, Legalisation at the M.of F.A, and the issue of a Khor Ror 22. I already had a translation of the certificate, so they deducted the cost of that, and the nett figure was 2800 baht.

I, for one, was very happy to pay that and have everything done for me. Now when I go to Jomtien to get the year extension, I am tooled up and armed with a fresh Khor Ror 22, for a small cost. !!
