It seems inevitable that I will require replacement of a knee joint - even I can see the bone contact on the X-rays. My question is, what should this procedure cost here in Thailand? I understand that a titanium joint is probably the best to go for since future joint wear is minimal and I'd like something to last the rest of my life. (I'm 68, by the way).

If anyone has any useful comments about the procedure, costs, or the after effects of replacement surgery (I understand that the sudden correction in walking posture can sometimes cause pain elsewhere), I'd really appreciate them. If you've already had this surgery; in retrospect, do you feel that your life has significantly improved?

You are like me as I also have no cartilage left in my knee joint. Another guy I know is the same & was ready to head back to the UK for knee replacement but then moved into a house with a pool. He started swimming regularly & within a short time he was able to stop taking celebrex (anit inflammatory) plus he was able to walk with relative ease. I have a friend in NZ who went to India for two hip replacements & he was very happy with the pricing & results (even with air fares much cheaper than private costs in NZ). He had them done by a process called the Birmingham hip by the doctor who actually developed it. Perhaps they also do good knee replacment procedures.
