Hi guys i would appreciate advice on my predicament, im Australian and 60, i arrived on the 15th of dec 2011 armed with multi O visa, 2 by 90 days, plans changed after i applied for the O visa and need to be back in Melbourne mid sept this year, ive booked a flight to penang and leave the 12th of march and come back 16th of march, The consulate told me when i picked up my passport i need to return by 4th of april to Thailand, and i could have but prefered to be back in BKK sooner rather than later.

From the 16th my next 90 days start this will take me through to 13th of june, my question is what visa's and how do i go about it to extend my stay till mid sept? I need another 95 days approx as i havent booked my ticket home as of yet, so 2 by60 days or 1 trip to a near by border for 15 days and a 90 day would solve my delima.

I read here it possible to turn what i have into 1 year but im not keen to return to australia just for that, if i have to i prefer to just fly out and come back in around the asia area, but im sure from what i read here to be able to get another 90 days somewhere in asia or a couple of 60 days.

Thank you in advance for any information.

If you have a multile non-O visa, it is valid for 1 year but you must leave the country after 90 maximum and can re-enter during the same time. Each time you enter Thailand during the validity of the visa, you are allowed to stay for up to 90 days.

You do not need to go to Penang to get a new visa, you just have to leave Thailand and re-enter again after entering and leaving another country. Land or air border doesn't matter and you can return the same day.

Check your visa - does it say 'multi' or 'two' on it? It would be very unusual for it to say anything but 'single' or 'multi' and if multi you have unlimited number of entries for one year from date of issue.

Bump for this thread and so I won't have to start a new one to irritate the veterans.....I have a Type 'O' non-immigrant Visa, multiple entry, American citizen. Is there a way I can extend the 90 days somehow, maybe paying a fee at the immigration office on Samui for an extra 30 or 60 days?

I came in on December 18th and have to be out by March 17th, but would prefer to put that off for a while....any chances?

Thanks!

And your visa was issued for what reason? If for Thai wife/child a 60 day extension may be available but even then if your visa is still valid you may be told to exit/return for a new 90 day stay.

Lopburi...i looked its an "non immirant visa category O good for two journeys"....as i said situation changed after i applied, i was asked by consulate why and what i was doing in thailand, the original idea was a medical operation on arrival followed buy a holiday then i was to apply for an ed visa to take me to 18mth by then i would have known if i was going to stay on, a project that had been sitting around for a few years became a reality so thats the reason im heading back in sept, but its good to know that after this project i can apply for a non imm O that will allow me 12 mths here before i apply for a retirement or ed visa.

My question is how can i extend my stay to an extra 95 days...can i do it in BKK or do i need to do it in another country, im not keen to fly home and back again.

Of course i will go see immigration here but i want too know excatly what i can do and cant do...be armed with information because im sure just like home i will get the run around.

Unless you are under medical treatment, it seems there is no reason for an extension of stay and you would need to go to Vientianne for a double entry toruist visa, this would give you 120 day, more than enough. But you would need to leave the country after the first 60 days, to come back the same day.
