Someone suggested to me that it is better to get a new one and have the stamps transferred over because it negates all previous tourist visas when you apply. It is not very clean on the website if you have a choice. My passport is full and I have one stamp on the ammend pages in the back. I can't find a number for passport services at the US embassy.

Thanks in advance.

You can always get a new passport and with the new price structure it makes sense for many as a clean passport is much easier for everyone concerned.

Thanks guys I pretty much assume if Lopburi<Thanks always sound advice> replies its a pretty good answer that is devoid of all the nonsense that usually blights some of these posts. Ironically that is t route I was told to go also. I was trying to figure out how to time it get the passport then the 30 day extension or 30 day extension then a new passport because it would put me all the way into May. Anything around Song Kran is just to much of a risk due to the national holiday.

US embassy link states prices as; $82 add pages, $110 replace passport. I think you can only get 2 set (10-12 pages) of pages added then a replacement passport is required.

You can get up to three additional books added to the original passport - I am on my third and final on my 10 year passport now.

But you can always just paperclip or staple the old passport to the new passport - and then visas in the old passport are valid (for most countries, including Thailand).

I want a new passport I got red stamped along with our whole group and the people at immigration said marry my girlfriend,Get a new passport since mine was full<He said they don't transfer the new stamp> or go to a different embassy. I am getting married sooner or later but it is not a reason for a visa. I would do the education visa is there was something useful to take. Learning Thai as useful as it is in Thailand is not very useful outside of Thailand. I am actually a long stay tourist I really do not have to work at least for another couple of years but I refuse to open a business here. I am a professional vacationer taking a mid life retirement for a couple of years.

When you apply for a new passport ask them to add extra pages, tell them you travel allot. They did this for me last time I renewed my passport, but that was in the US and was about 6 years ago so don't know if there have been changes. It don't hurt to try.
