I'm in the process of reapplying for a UK general 6month visa after a recent refusal.

In part 6 of the online application there is a section about previous refusals which has to be answered.

I've copied it below:

You stated that you had been refused a visa for any country, including the UK.

Please provide details of all refused visa applications. If you were refused a visa for the UK‚ please enter the reference number you were given for the refusal‚ if known‚ in the following format XXX/123456 (the XXX is the country or post location abbreviation‚ for example New York is NYC).

The question relates to this reference number as the one on the refusal letter which was done at Regent House in Bangkok actually has more letters, 7 letters in total:

BANGKOK\123456.

How should I apply this to the application that only asks for 3 letters plus the 6 numbers? BAN or even BKK (airline code) or other?

Put BKK. Bangkok references begin BKK, but it doesn't really matter as they can easily get the refusal reference from their own computer records. As long as you answer that there was a previous refusal, then the question is answered. They can't refuse an application because you put the wrong reference number.

Thanks for the very speedy reply VP.

I'll take your advise.

They appear a slight bit touchy with the applications this year.

Concerns from the Home Office I'd say what with all that's planned in London over the summer

There does seem to be a lot of refusal posts on the forum at the moment. I'm not sure why as the busy season hasn't really started yet for applications at the Embassy. ThaiVisaExpress and I have noticed that the quality of refusals has dropped, and the refusal reasons are poor, and often wrong. We are managing to get many refusals overturned by writing to the Embassy and pointing out where they have gone wrong. This shouldn't have to happen, of course, and one might expect the ECOs to get it right. After all, you are paying them for a service. Unfortunately, it is easy for ECOs to refuse in cases where there is no right of appeal, and there is a marked difference in decisions where there is a right of appeal. More thought obviously goes into the decision making as the ECO may have to justify his decision to refuse at appeal.
