davevi Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Today I switched on my DTAC device and made a 3G connection (H+). I recently switched to AIS so I could get 3G in Chiang Mai. However, I kept my DTAC SIM and phone also. Today I discovered that I can make a 3G speed connection using my DTAC SIM! Can anyone else connect at 3G speeds using DTAC in Chiang Mai right now? Is it officially on here? P.S. I am out near the mountains and the connection was full bars.
KRS1 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Been using it off and on between EDGE/GSM and 3G for the past two weeks on a D-Link aircard for internet. Seems fine. I use it to watch Youtube, but theres a 1g data limit on my unlimited monthly plan for 399 baht, then it reverts to EDGE/GSM. 1g goes by quick, so only use it when necessary.

KRS1 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 No it doesn't it just stops working completely. Then i have to revert to EDGE.
thaicbr Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 really! I would check that out with Dtac customer service because it's not supposed to do that.
mcgriffith Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I've had it since Dec 31...DTAC 3G with a DTAC aircard operating on 850 MHz. As mentioned before on other threads, yeah way faster than AIS 3G. See this recent thread: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/536752-true-3g-versu-ais-3g/page__pid__5096605#entry5096605 for further clarification on the subject.
lomatopo Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 (edited) http://www.thaivisa....ost__p__5016286 The 399 baht/1 month/1 GB unlimited DTAC/Happy plan is supposed to have the "maximum speed limited to 384 Kbps" once the 1 GB threshold is passed. There no mention of a guarantee of 384 Kbps. In theory this 384 Kbps would be delivered on the 3G transport and not the 2G/GSM Data/EDGE platform). http://www.happy.co.th/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=333&Itemid=368〈=en So now there is DTAC/Happy, AIS-One-2-Call, TrueMove H/Cat My and even TOT/MVNOs http://www.i-bkk.com/ilocation/viewer/ Edited March 3, 2012 by lomatopo
