One dead, ten injured in Pattaya road crash

PATTAYA:--A woman was killed and ten others, including two young children, were badly injured as two vehicles collided on the dangerous Highway 331 in the Huoy Yai area on the outskirts of Pattaya on Thursday afternoon.

The injured were taken to Banglamung Hospital and the Queen Sirigit Hospital in Sattahip District. The crash involved a pick-up carrying seven people on the back with the driver and one passenger in the cab, and a Silver Honda Civic driven by Khun Anuchar aged 39 who is currently in a coma.

The female passenger in the car who has yet to be identified was declared dead-at-the-scene. Witnesses including a number of less seriously injured passengers on the pick-up described how the Honda Civic cut-across the path of the pick-up causing a high-speed impact which threw the seven people on the pick-up onto the road. A child aged 3 years sustained a serious life-changing facial injury and another child of the same age sustained a suspected fractured skull.
