Hello Gents, Thinking About Buying A Place In Bangkok

Featured Replies

Peoples,

I currently live in the US, work in construction and want to move to Thailand, Bangkok. I've been visiting the kingdom for the last 10 years and know that it will be my home base (at least as long as the desire is there). At 33 years old, I have no debt. Do you think I can buy a condo for $20-40K?

Or should I save more money. All I am looking for is a place to call home when I'm in Thailand. Maybe even rent out when I'm out and about on various jobs.

I understand the location will have a huge effect on price.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Rent.

At least for a year or two.

Yeah, I've been browsing the web today for places, and sure is pricey in bangkok. I think renting is a good idea. Thanks

I suggest thinking about a visa would be your first task.

Otherwise the visits will be relatively short and with many 'visa runs'.

Rent first in an area you think you like, 6 months at least.

Then when you know you like the area consider buying.

Looking around on websites will find you only the expensive places. There hundreds if not thousands cheaper available if you are willing to invest some time and especially walking/driving around.
