In the days prior to Seh Daeng’s assassination, moderate red-shirt leaders had moved closer to agreement with the Thai government proposal for a reconciliation road-map including elections. Hardline red-shirt leaders refused to compromise, including Seh Daeng who stated his intention to assume command of the red-shirts in the event of the withdrawal of civilian leaders. Seh Daeng was assassinated the following day, provoking a violent reaction in which more than 50 people lost their lives over a period of five days.

The targeted assassination effectively decapitated the black-shirted security group in its operations which presented no organized resistance to advancing military columns. The action also opened the resumption of the preferred negotiated settlement with the moderate red-shirt leadership at the last hour. Due to the intransigence of other hard-line red-shirt leaders, however, this did not transpire.

The issue is an agreements was made by both sides of the negotiation teams. "After 54 days of protest and 27 deaths, Thailand's bloody political standoff appeared almost at an end today, with the redshirt protesters agreeing to a government offer of an election this year.

The redshirt leadership agreed to a proposal from embattled Thai prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva for a "reconciliation road map" that included the dissolution of parliament before a general election on 14 November........ Today, on the stage at their main protest site in the heart of Bangkok's shopping district, leader Veera Musikapong announced: "Redshirt leaders unanimously agree to join, and welcome, the reconciliation roadmap proposed by the prime minister to prevent further loss of life." http://www.guardian....iation-election

.

Gee, sounds like every one was happy, ... why leave out the rest, ie, the conditions imposed

from the same article...

But the redshirts will not leave the streets of Bangkok yet, asking that the government clarify the details of its offer. Veera argued the election date was the bailiwick of the electoral commission, not the prime minister, and asked Abhisit to nominate a date when he would dissolve parliament. Other key details are still to be thrashed out, including the caveats imposed by Abhisit, such as insisting that an election only be held "once the country is peaceful", and other vague but potentially draconian conditions, including that "the government will ensure that the media will function as a constructive tool".

Yes, all of them confessed. That`s how they do it in this country. If you don `t confess you get the maximum, don`t matter if your gulity or not. Same as some other very low standard countries.

Are you calling the US a nation of low standards? The same applies there if you enter plea-agreements.

In the US you usually don't get leniency for confessing AFTER you've been found guilty.

I don't think that is what is going on here...

I wonder what fine the yellow shirts got for closing down the airport and costing the country BILLIONS. None yet? Again the bias is showing. I believe only recently has anyone done anything about them. The democrats certainly didn't do anything about them. Now that was REAL damage.

one problem with your assumption. It was AOT that closed the airport. prematurely. Thus making it easier for the yellows to dig in.
