bkkmadness
Yep, its holiday time again, and on the way down South I'm gonna stay in Hua Hin for a couple of days with some mates, so some info needed please. 1. Reasonable hotel, not luxury on anything, but air con, maybe a tv with some movie channels be nice. As long as its clean I'm happy really. I want to spend 400-600 baht, is that possible since its high season? Any suggestions? 2. And more importantly, best bars to go to? Any late night joints? Cheers. edit: also a place with a good pool table would be a good, and a decent table is kind of a must, any chance of that? Simmo
Hey, Playing in the pool league there last year I think I can answer your 2nd question. Most of the bars have pretty old and worn out pool tables but at least the pool is free. The best one is in Fairways bar (in the soi that runs parallel to Soi Bintabaht). Roy the owner is a great bloke as well. Also worth a mention is Johnnie Walkers bar, for the best American pool style table, great staff here as well and probably the only place for non-bar girl decent music in town. As for the bars, there all pretty much a like , just do the square walk around the Soi Bintabaht block and find one that you like. The action usually migrates to the Hilton bar after 11pm on Fridays and weekends. As for accomodation , Bambina has linked to the common mid range hotels. Keep in mind what you get for hotels there is not the same value as somewhere like Pattaya. If you want to stay close to the bars, I'd recommend the Goanna Guest House near Fairways bar (700 baht for a decent air con room / fridge / tv). The aussie guy that runs it is a nice guy and he gives you a discount on drinks if you're staying. If you want to stay low budget , hit the guest houses along the water near the restaurants , small air room s for 250-500.
baht&sold
Subhamitra Hotel , swimming pool, A/C, mini fridge, TV (only Fox news tho- but great for a laff) 649 baht A/C, 428 Fan rooms. 5 mins to beach, across from Starbucks around the opp corner and the Wat. Best kept secret in HH, call or email in advance. When you going btw?

Funnyly enough Simmo I found that fairways bar before I see your post and PM, your right, best table in the area. But after I got your PM I asked after Ron and the girl their said that a guy called Adrian runs it. I'll enquire more later. ok, as much as I'd love to chat whilst on holiday, Im off to get pissed (or more pissed), merry christmas dudes.
