Europe Starts Daylight Saving on March 25, 2012

Daylight Saving Time (DST) will begin in most of Europe in the early morning of Sunday March 25, 2012, when clocks move 1 hour forward. The precise time of the switch differs from country to country.

US & Canada start DST Sunday, March 11

Australia & NZ end DST Sunday, April 1

Synchronized schedule

In most European countries DST begins on the last Sunday of March and ends on the last Sunday of October. This is the case in:

all countries in the European Union (EU) - including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy

most other European countries - including Norway and Switzerland

You don't SAVE daylight during the summer months. That was tried one time in the UK, for the winter. In the UK, the clocks going forward changes GMT to BST - not DST - which stands for British Summer Time. The purpose is to extend evening daylight, not to save on morning daylight which looks after itself.
