these wars on drugs are not wars on drugs at all but just an attempt at monoplising profits, certainly thats the only effect they have ever had.

The dealers and distributors are better organised and highly placed!

A war on drugs would have possibly worked if they were doing it from the top, not bottom. As was said the drug barons are untouchable and just removing people from the bottom would open a new job openings.

Legalizing drugs is a more sensible aproach but not an option really for underdeveloped or developing countries if it means the drugs would become cheaper and more readily available. I personally wouldn't care less if blow, weed, etc were free and piled up right in front of me but many uneducated folks (specially those living in the sticks) would get hooked pretty quick.
