Bangkok Bank Nearest Cmu Area?

Featured Replies

I'll be arriving in CM early next month and staying near CMU. Would like to know the nearest Bangkok bank to open an account and the nearest post office. Also, is molasses, preferably blackstrap, available anywhere in the area? Thanks.

There is a Bangkok Bank Branch just opposite the library in the University. The one further away at Kad Suan Kau (Central) shopping centre may be more convenient to open an account as it is open till 9pm 7 days a week and is used to dealing with foreigners.

And there's a post office inside CMU too.

Another option for a BKK Bank branch is on Suthep Road. ( http://g.co/maps/wrfth )

A main branch (full service) which I use is on Suthep road just off the Canal Road.

As all have atm cards and most business can be done through any other branch (except maybe special foreigner services such as deposit letters for immigration) it does not matter much which branch you use. English language is usually a bit better at the banks that deal largely with foreigners and you tend to get less of the "Cannot do" if they do not understand.

there is a bkk bank on Nimmehaemin road along with every other bank (except krung thai)

the campus is spreadout everywhere but as other posters highlight there are maybe 6 within a small radius.

I think all the nearby branches of Bangkok Bank have been mentioned.

If you want molasses, the Kasem store on Nimmanhaemin Road usually has it, but check the "sell by" date. You should also be able to get it in Tops.

Thanks for the replies--a very big help. I've been studying Thai for many months in preparation for this adventure but my pronunciation is lousy so I'll probably open the account at BB's branch in Kad Suan Kaew where they're used to dealing with foreigners, as Harry suggested. But it's good to know that there are closer branches to my area. And I guess I'll try Tops for molasses when in Central. Thanks again all...
