Help On Hotel Choice (Budget)

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I am heading to Bangkok for holidays on a shoestring budget. I am undecided between two hotels:

1. True Siam Hotel:

Located on Phayathai Road

2. Bangkok CIty Inn

Located on Rajdamri Road Pathumwan

From pictures True Siam looks much better but I like the Bangkok city inn location. True Siam hotel's King Room Standard costs US$47... Bangkok City Inn is about $30...

I got the prices from this website here discount. bestresortasia. com/Hotel/Bangkok_City_Inn . htm

Thanks for the help!

Bangkok City Inn is OK for a couple of nights. Bit tatty but liveable. Its pretty noisy at night and right in the middle of the Nana action...

Better if you are willing to spend $47 on a room look at the Taipan Hotel on Soi 23. Get a deal without breakfast for about that price.

You might like to have look at this:

Great easy access location-- well run and helpful -- smallish rooms but nicely done. Under $40-00 I believe.

Many around cheaper but this is nice.

It really depends what you're looking to do. If you want to be in the thick of the action, those listed above are good. I personally like a quieter neighbourhood and stay at Diamond Residence Rachada - http://www.diamond-ratchada.in.th/

It's not near the night action but it's very close to the Sutthisan MRT station so you can get pretty much anywhere fast and cheap. And the hotel is nice, modern, in a Thai neighbourhood with lots of yummy street food nearby and is only 800 Baht per night. HOWEVER, if you plan on enjoying the night life in the Sukhumvit area keep in mind you'd have to take a taxi home (after about midnight) which could cost you 100 Baht. So, as I say, it depends on what you plan on doing with your time.

When are you travelling and for how many nights?

For 1300 baht you can get a serviced studio apartment with kitchenette and more space at Omni on soi 4 ..if you want to be walking distance from Nana BTS , Nana plaza, etc.

You don't say how long you are staying, or what your planned activities are, but you can usually get MUCH better deals for a month's stay at MUCH nicer serviced apartments than at the cheap hotels you mention. Of course, it depends on whether or not you'll be seeking different companionship nightly, or playing it discreet...

THB13-14,000 should get a month at a nice place - under THB450/day = $15.

Try 21 Living Place in Soi Rangnam, (near Victory Monument BTS). Google it.

Good luck.

I always google AGODA they will offer you the full range zero to five star.

Yes he did, but if you read the OP AGAIN and pay attention, you will see that he's considering a $47 /night for hotel, which is B1400.

//edit: changed $ to B typo.

around 50 range considered budget?

Like others said, if you plan to stay in BKK for a month or so, you would be better off renting a fully furnished serviced apartment. Even if you don't stay a whole month, if will be a huge saving compared to staying in any hotel.

I can suggest a http://www.kvmansion.com/ it's near the BTS On Nut. Very nice apartment, I stayed there for a year or so. Their web page has a lot of pics, go'n check them out. Price per month is 15,000, have restaurant and a beauty saloon downstairs, 7-11 right across the street.

If you're not for too long in BKK and want to be near all the action, google Nana Thai Mansion. This hotel is on soi Nana but further away from Sukhumvit road and away from the noise. They have 2 buildings, the newer one is a little more expensive but the older one is fine too for a few nights.

Boss Hotel down the soi at Woraburi bottom of soi Nana, newish hotel 1400 a night with breakfast.

Town Lodge 800 baht with free wifi if you mention Stickman - normally 1200 but about worth 800!
