Thinking of taking advantage of LGW to BKK via HCMC vietnam air low fare. There is one little draw back and that is the 9 hour wait in transit on return journey (economy) any info on facilities or day rooms would be appreciated. Also I read last months topic by ROY requesting info on long haul flights with air vietnam has any one flown with them since then

I really wouldnt expect too much mate.

Nothing much at all inside the airport. A few eateries upstairs (where the folks without boarding passes can access) and I think burger king and dominoes pizza have stands on the outside.

The backpacker area is only a 20 minute taxi ride away; that's probably where I'd hang out. There are a few guest houses that have hourly rates posted, but their clientele is on the sleazy side (go figure).

The Vietnam Airways lounge has some decent wine...free wifi...and kind of passable food.

Nine hours would be a stretch in there imho.

If you're intending heading into town then you'll need a visa.
