Thailand To Lao

Featured Replies

Wife, kids and I are doing a driving trip across Thailand and she is wounds ring can we now drive in to lao? Would like it to be one of the destinations to get to

Taking a car from Thailand to Laos requires you to have a vehicle passport. The car must be yours and not on finance of any kind. You'll need to buy Insurance for Laos too.

Contact the Lao embassy for the requirements to bring your privately owned car into the country. No rental company will allow taking the car out of the country you rented it in in SEA unless prior arangements are agreed to in writing.

really nothing to worry about......just came back from Laos with my car (many occasions)

First time visitor.....??

checklist

copy houseregistration

copy of ownersship

copy of tax-paid page in the ownership book.

copy drivers licence

vehicle passport.

get to the border.......

hand over passport(s) and vehicle passport and ownershipbook at the vehicle costum side.immigration is NOT seperated from costum in Thailand.

in return you need to fill in some forms....5 minute job...you keep one(keep at a dry and safe place)

if asked (by the Thai costum) to hand over a copy of above mentioned items...hand over.

dont forget when stamps are stamped to get the final signature of costum officer (both sides)

3. tell the Lao costum HOW LONG you want the vehicle to be in Laos(2 weeks 160 bath)
