8000Km Service Check On Cbr205R

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Today I made the 8000 click on the clock and are taking it for a service check within' a few days after the Songkarn.

So far my bike have had the following done:

1000km - Change of oil and tighten everything.

2000km - Change of oil.

4000km - Change of oil.

6000km - Change of oil and general check of everything, all liquids, tire pressure and tighten.

So my question is: at my 8000km check, what can I expect to be made?

A friend of mine told me that some people change the air-filter at either 8000 or 12,000. What are your opinion?

For the record, the bike rides like a dream, no problem what so ever.

Thanks in advance,

Emil

If it's dirty and clogged, change it. Some just blow their filters out (from the inlet tract side of the filter outwards)

Your owners manual (if in english) will tell you what should be checked / changed at varoius intervals.

I'm sure there is an online US CBR250 manual that will be invaluable to all that own such a bike :)

It's cheap as chips.

Change the oil, oil filter and air filter at each service. For a few hundred baht change why not?

Though aren't the services every 6000km, not 8000?

This is probably what you're looking for:

Changing the oil every 2000 km seems a bit much

I disagree.

I do the same. It's so cheap that I don't even notice the money spent, and I ride my bike hard.

I also give the chain a quick spray of lube when I get home every evening.

Over maintaining your bike is better than the opposite.

use quality oil and theres no reason to change it every 2000km

That is another option. smile.png

On the standard Honda oil I see no reason not to change it so regularly. I change the filter as well. I personally prefer it to using a full synthetic and not changing oil or filter for extended periods.

But I also spray lube the chain when I get home every evening.

So am a bit wasteful when it comes to such maintenance.

True after an engine is broken in.

But with a new engine it does not hurt to change more often to rid the engine of metal shavings as things get seated.

Quality oil/viscosity etc does not help with that.

I second that commotion, oil withstands tons of pressure, removes the heat from the hot end, reduces friction and cleans as well, 2000 kms is a good time to change it, it is so cheap anyway compared to an engine rebuild. The manufacturer recommends 4000kms. I think for an air cooled bike especially, the oil is beginning to lose it's best qualities at this time.
