Getting A Thai Passport In Chiang Mai

Recommended Posts

My step-daughter is Thai, 20 years old and once had a Thai passport, but has no idea where it is now, but it definitely expired a long time ago ....

Questions are:

1) Can she get a new passport in Chiang Mai?

2) If so, where, how much baht and does she need anything apart from her Thai ID card to get the passport?

Many thx,

Go to Government House on the left hand side of the road to Mae Rim. Go through the main building open entrance and turn left. The passport offfice is last on the left hand side of the building. Or just ask the security guard at the entrance.

Passport costs around 1000 baht for five years. All she should need is a Thai ID card, complete the application form and it takes less than 40 minutes.

Good luck

2) If so, where ?, At the government offfice just off canal road, past the nes convention center and near that green lake resort. First floor on the left when you go in.

3.) how much baht 1040 Baht it is sent to your home after a few days

4.) does she need anything apart from her Thai ID card to get the passport? my wife did not. my daughter does. Not sure where the age break is

Not sure if it's because of my daughter's age, which is only 10 years old, but when we renew herThai passport, she needs her mother's Thai ID card [ original not photocopy] and my passport [ original again] but this is probably because she is still a minor; we go to the big Govt. complex just a bit further out of town from the 700 year stadium and other side of the road--it's a bit more complicated than that but you get where I mean, I guess.

The ease and simplicity puts many western countries to shame.

My wife renewed hews no problem.

When I renewed my American passport in the states they would not take cash. Had to go to a bank and get a check,

Go figure won't even take their own money.

Thailand could teach them a lot about visa's and passports.

Not to mention the cost, turn around time, and quality of the document.
