Legalization Of Foreign Study

Featured Replies

I am a European, bachelor`s degree holder. I would like to legalize my degree for working in Thailand but not sure about the way of doing it.

I understand I need to have it legalized in my home country by a local notary or lawyer or/and the Ministry of Foreign Affair then get a copy of the whole document and have it notarized and then verified and stamped by the local Thai Embassy. Or may it be the Thai authorities in Thailand?

Can someone shed more light on this subject please?

Often there are two ways, the way you described in your own country or going to the legalisation process in Thailand, which involves your embassy and the Thai Foreign Ministry. Best is to contact your embassy and check what their requirements are to have it legalised by them (if they do that).

Thank you, I will give them a ring tomorrow.

One more question about this. Do I need a Thai translation or Engllish can do?

Depends on what it is for. Normally you provide an English translation, certified by the Embassy. This you have translated by a translation agency and with the English document from the mbassy and the Thai translation you go to the Thai foreign office, Consular Department to have it legalised.

Immigration for example accepts documents in English from your embassy, while the labour department might want to see a legalised Thai translation.

Ok, thank you again.

I have worked in Thailand 3 times at 3 different places with work permits. I have a Bachelors Degree in Education. No one has ever asked me to have the degree legalized, if that is what you are worried about.

Show them the original and give them copies. English is fine, no translation needed.
