How many beers have you had? :D:D

Hi blabbel.

You've been here before, what was your previous nic? :D

Seems to be an epidemic lately.... :o

I've been accused of all sorts of things here, ranging from misquoting to being a 15 year old school-girl, in return, I even apologised to a fellow who was going bananas over an argument (seems he left in a huff to sulk ot something... :D ), now I am supposed to be someone else altogether. :D:D Is it G-day? :D

Ref: personal hygiene, if anyone cares.

I changed my attitude several times in my life, my first gf was meticulous and I took this on, later another gf 'confessed' to me that she likes the smell of sweat on a guy.

I tend to be more 'lenient' with myself when I am not in a relationship, but insist on cleanliness in a first encounter.

In Thailand, I generally found my sexual partners to be more concerned about having a shower (prostitute or not), even if I just showered before going out.

I can confirm Thais seem to focus on smell a lot more than 'us', (but I haven't noticed this relating to low selfesteem, refering to kat's comment).

You're joking right? He is talking about marrying a woman!!!
In general, do Thai women keep a clean house?

no I am not joking...

I've been married to two Thai women in the last fifteen years, ten years over here in Thailand and I can definately say that what they can see is what they clean, anything that is over their heads or behind something does not get touched. Cobwebs get left alone because the spiders eat the mos'ies and flies. Before any of the girls out there start shouting, yes I do those parts of the house and the cooking. (Thai and Falaang). It do'nt mattater how often you tell the sweethearts after a week its back to normal.

I left the United States in 1968 and returned in 1972. I returned to a terrible phenomenon.

I have been in the food business for a long time and have a very developed sense of smell. I can tell you everything in soup, stew or sauce just by a couple of seconds whiff. What you may ask was this terrible phenomenon? Panty hose were introduced during the years I was absent. That smell drives me up the wall. It is reminiscent of a urinal that has not been cleaned in a year.

In my humble opinion people who wear pantyhose need to shower before anything intimate happens.

Luckily in Thailand every toilet has those spray hoses, good for before and after if there is not time for a complete shower.

Also I think a diet of fish, fowl and vegetables is more conducive to less offensive body odor than one composed of beef and lard.

I used to live in Toronto and was offended every time I rode the subway by the odor of the other riders.

I have never noticed any odor from a Thai man or woman on the Sky train although I have frequently moved away from Farangs because of a heavy body odor.

I have Thai friends both male and female who work in kitchens, hot hard work all day long and have met them directly after work and have never noticed any odor though they pop in the shower right after they get home.

Given the amount of polyester they wear it amazes me that there is no odor. I have found this to be the case in Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Japan and I think it has to do with diet more than anything else and of course the absence of panty hose.

Everyone says this, but I remember being turned off by the constant smell of rotten... I mean aged fish sauce eminating from the pores of our hosts when I first visited Thailand.

However, don't notice it after 15 year of eating Thai food. :o

For those who are complaining that personal hygiene is a derailment of the thread, it's not.

Please refer to the title of the thread. It does not specify housecleaning anywhere.

Thanks

I don't agree with some of your views (on another thread; I haven't had time to respond yet), but we are in total agreement about the pantyhose situation :o

and the bathroom sprays, AND about the odor of some farangs. However, you are wrong about the absence of pantyhose here; some women here do wear them to work.

I also agree with the person who said that what is seen is cleaned here, and everything else collects dust. I always have to clean after my cleaning lady here. But for me, it is enough that they clean the floors well, something I hate to do.

my thai gf came to the us recently. she was a clean freak here. Her home in issan is spotless. My friends thai wife is one of the most orderly clean neat freak. She always wants to help me out at my house by moving the furniture to vacuum behind the couch and cannot believe i do not move the furniture every week. I am sure that every thai person is different. However, on the whole, I find most thai people are cleaner than people in the us. And this is from a person who grew up with a mother who was the cleaning freak of all time.

I have seen Thais who live in a pigsty, toss their rubbish all over the place and seem to care less that their houses are disgusting. Same with westerners. I've seen Thais who have spotlessly clean houses and same with westerners.

It just depends on the person.

As for the personal hygiene issue, I am with Kat on this one: Death to Pantyhose!!!!!
