PATTAYA:--The Excise Department Region 3, which covers the waters around the Eastern Seaboard are stepping-up their fight against those who wish to smuggle contraband items through the area.

On Friday, Khun Benjar, Director-General of the Excise Department of Thailand led a dedication ceremony at the Ocean Marina Yacht Club in Jomtien for a new vessel which is designed to intercept suspected smugglers.

The new 60-foot-long vessel has two outboard motors offering 593 horsepower with a top speed of 20 knots. The vessel is able to run for 50 hours non-stop and can accommodate up to 15 officers and is a necessary addition to their fleet
