So I have a new passport because my last one is completely full<Even annotated pages reason for replacement> I was told at Immigration that I can just bring both passports with me when I go to Laos and do it at the border. A second person who is very deft at the affairs of immigration said it is better to transfer it at Chiang Watana Immigration before I go. He said you end up having to go to a second office to do the paperwork at the border. I have a nice snazzy letter from the US Embassy addressed to Immigration asking them to please transfer the stamp. So my questions are A. My old passport has my visa for Thailand 2 x 2 +1 <The last stamp is my extension> B. It has a red stamp from Laos<Old> New is clean no stamps C. What form do I have to fill out if I go to Chiang Watana? D. Immigration vs Border.

Thanks in advance I expect Lopburi to have a good answer!

If you have an extension gained from Immigration in Thailand (i.e Chaengwattana), then you go to them. If you have a multiple entry VISA, then you go outside of Thailand and back in again close to your 90 day point, get the new passport stamped upon return into Thailand.

It seems you are on an extension of stay, in that case do it at Chiang Wattana (your office area). You will need to fill in a form and provide copy of new and old passports.

If you only had a visa and are not on an extension of stay, the border would be fine.

Thank you very much that is a good answer and you provided the form. I am just trying to avoid the trip out to immigration if I can help it I hate getting up early to be the first one in.
