2 Entry Tourist Visa Used Once But Immigration Officer Wrote Used

Featured Replies

To whoever may have helpful information on the subject,

I recently entrered thailand with a double entry (2 x 60 day tourist) visa but the immigration oficer wrote "used" accros the middle of it as he may not have seen the number 2 next to the number of entries section. I am very worried that maybe I will not be able to use it again when i re-enter by land in another 2 months. Though since it only has once date stamped on it it should still be valid. I am an Australian citizen.

If anybody could provide imformation on it's validity it would be extremely helpful as I also am planning on booking my flight home in late August. I will take a copy of my itinerary with me on the day of re-entry. Someone please help relieve my anxiety.

Chiang Watanna still has a desk involved with correcting such mistakes if done at airport in Bangkok I believe. If from a border crossing I would check with that office as they should be able to notate a correction. Or you can hope for the best on return. If you are extending 30 days you might wait to ask then if a special trip is out of the question.

I am in Khon Kaen, do you think i could get it corrected at the immigration office here. Thanks for previous reply

You can ask. Some have phoned border posts for corrections but generally you are likely to be told to contact the office making the mistake or perhaps Bangkok.

I've lost count of the number of times I have seen people who have pointed out an error to immigration when entering the Kingdom. These are only the people who have checked their passport when it is handed back which makes me wonder just how many errors are made in total.I also wonder how many times it is done knowingly because the person shows little or no respect.

Anyway, people should check their passport every time.

The bus started to drive away as my passport was handed to me, so I just grabbed it and ran. Luckily they saw me running after it and stopped. I checked my passport as soon as I got on the bus, because the time before last the immigration officer at phuket airport stamped my departure card but failed to stamp my passport with the admitted until__ date stamp.

Just how disrespectful can a person get while standing in line waiting for an immigration officer to check your papers? If showing disrespect includes not smiling like an idiot, then perhaps you have a point.

I've had two mistakes by Suvarnabhumi Immigration officers in my passport. One mistake was in my favor, one was not, so I'll refrain from complaining too much. But you have to admit, there's little chance of checking the stamp or what they do while you are standing right there. They hand the passport back to you closed and expect you to quickly move on, so I'm not sure why all the chatter about checking it on the spot is going on. It wasn't until I was at the baggage carousel that I noticed the mistakes. Then you have to search around for an off duty officer to assist you.

Let me think....

Turn up in a singlet?

Use the phone?

Arrive pissed?

Tell the officer you should get 60 days before he or she has done anything?

Look around aimlessly, avoiding eye contact?

Keep looking at your watch?

Stand behind the person being stamped in rather than behind the yellow line?

Approach before being indicated to do so?

Is that enough for now?

It only takes a second or two to check. I then thank them and wish them a good day.

Weren't you looking when he had the passport open and was about to write in it?

If you're only in KK I would've missed that bus.....

As far as I can remember they stamp the visa 'used' at your first activation.

For first entry they would write 1 and the date.

There is not such thing as a mistake in your favour. It's your responsibility to know what lenght of permission to stay you will receive, and if you by mistake receive a longer permission to stay than what you were entitled to, then you will be on overstay if staying longer than your entitlement. Sure, they may not notice but then again they might.

I just stand to the side and check my stamp. As said it only takes a couple of seconds.

I had belongings on the bus

I wasn't sure of the usual process until i looked through my passport to see how they did it last time.

What do you think my chances are on using the second entry. Surely they will see that there is only one date stamped on it and the the officer last time clearly didn't see the number of entries.

Most officials will not want to over-ride a previous stamp by another officer without agreement. It would be best to get it corrected (if not more work than just getting a new visa if it turns out to be required).
