Going Out Of Thailand And Coming Back On Non-B Visa.. ?

Featured Replies

Hello,

My friend has a Thai Non-Immi. B Visa. He's planning to go Philippines for a few days and coming back. Is there any special requirements for him to get out? Is there any papers, notice or permission to obtain from thai immigration prior his departure?

Or he can just go out, come back and Immigration will only check his valid visa?

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Thx

If it is a multiple entry non-imm b, then I can't see a problem. If it's a single entry, then the visa will be cancelled.

To change a sinlge entry to a multiple entry involves going to an immigration office and paying the extra 2000 baht approx.

Others with practical experience of this can possibly advise you better. I only know what I have read. Whenever I have had non-imm b visa before, I haven't left the country.

Agreed. The first thing I did after arriving with a non-imm B was get it changed to multi entry. If he has done that already, he'll be good, if not, best bet will be to get his employers to get him up to the Immigration Office ASAP..

If he has an extension of stay from immigration (permitted to stay longer than 90 days after application at immigration) he must first obtain a re-entry permit to keep his current permitted to stay date when he returns using TM.8 form at immigration office and paying 1,000 baht fee.

If he is on a single entry non immigrant B visa entry (90 days) it will end on exit and he will need a new visa.

If he is on a multi entry non immigrant B visa which will still be valid for entry on return date a new 90 day stay will be provided on return.

The quetion is what does he currently hold. If he has a valid multiple non-B visa, he can just come and go as long as the VISA from the Thai consulate abroad is still valid.

If he is on a single non-B entry of 90 days or on an extension of stay from immmigration because of his job, he needs to get a re-entry permit from immigration. He can then just leave and when he returns he fills in his re-entry eprmit on the arival card and immirgation will stamp him back in with his current permission to stay date.

Suspect you obtained a one year extension of stay and then a multi re-entry permit. Multi entry visas are not available inside Thailand.

On a side note, how many entries does a multi-entry visa entitle you to? Does it state how many on the visa stamp?

A multiple entry means that you have an unlimited number of entries, as long as the visa itself is still valid.

It is unlimited. It just says multiple entries allowed.

Edit: Mario and I tied on the posting.

Is the validity period usually 1 year or is it at the discretion of the consulate?

Normally it is 1 year, from date the visa is issued.
