Small plane crash in southern Croatia kills 2 < br />

ROGOTIN, CROATIA (BNO NEWS) -- Two people were killed on Wednesday morning when a small plane crashed in the southern region of Croatia, police said on Thursday. The cause of the accident was not immediately known.

The accident occurred just before 8:45 a.m. local time on Wednesday when the small aircraft went down near a bridge in the small village of Rogotin, which is located between PloÄe and Metković in the Dalmatia region. It was carrying two people.

"In the plane there were two people who were fatally injured," a police spokesperson said in a brief statement, which identified the victims as a woman and a man. Officials said the small aircraft crashed down in mandarin fields, and its flight had not been reported to flight control.

Police said the investigation was referred to an agency which is responsible for the investigation of aviation accidents.
